Rabbi Mendy Goldstein was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York and spent his high school years in a Yeshivah in Brunoy, France. After returning to New York to study for another two years, he spent a year in Budapest, Hungary completing an internship in outreach work.
At the age of 22, Rabbi Goldstein graduated and received his Rabbinical ordination from the Central Lubavitch Yeshiva in Brooklyn. Rabbi Mendy met his wife, Alta, in California and they married in May 2004. They are the proud parents of 6 children: Yisroel, Mussya, Eli, Moishy, Ahron and Levi.
Rabbi Mendy & Alta Goldstein moved to Naperville in December 2005 to establish the Chabad Jewish Center of Naperville, which provides social and religious programming for the Jewish community.
It was important to Rabbi Mendy and Alta to answer the Rebbe’s call to reach out to every single Jew regardless of affiliation to help brighten their Neshama and to help ignite the flame of Judaism in Naperville. Alta loves the richness, depth and meaning Judaism gives to life. Rabbi Mendy loves Shabbat and holidays, not to mention Gefilta fish and matza ball soup!
Rabbi Mendy has spent summers and holidays serving a number of Jewish communities around the world and across the United States. In addition to his rabbinical duties at Chabad of Naperville, Rabbi Mendy does outreach with senior citizens, adolescents with eating disorders and prisoners. He is known for his warmth, wit and patience.
Raising 6 kids, helping to run and direct Chabad of Naperville and acting as lead teacher for both camp and Hebrew School doesn't leave a lot of spare time, but Alta loves to paint and explore new crafting techniques. She is always open to questions and is friendly, innovative and quick to smile.
Rabbi Mendy and Alta are available at any time for questions or for anything which may be needed. Please don't hesitate to reach out.
